seeds

my seeds arrived this week from Territorial Seed Co. this is my first year really planning out my garden. last spring and summer we were still building the boxes, so i didn't know what i had to work with until it was there. this year i have written out a 12 month garden plan. i placed one big order of seeds and won't need to get anything else, other than a few cherry tomato starts. i'm really excited to start planting! the first batch of seeds go into the ground in a week or two: snap peas, shelling peas and spinach. i can't wait to start checking for them to come up every morning when i go let the chickens out into their run.

i see a little hand that is especially excited to have some broccoli. alas, that broccoli is for overwintering next year...

also, i'm going to a gardening class on saturday that is all about planning your garden. i feel like i have a good idea of what i want to do, but i'm sure i'll learn more tips that will make this year even better. if you're in town, come check it out!

  1. I really like these photos. Is it strange that I find seed packets really aesthetically pleasing and actually more fun than planting them?!
