the last month or so...

my how time flies! i really thought it had only been a week or so since my last post. i guess not sleeping enough will do funny things to a person's sense of time. the last month has been a month of change, with our little guy continuing to gain a pound a week, and therefore seeming less and less little...

sweet snuggles
first smiles!

all baby hats should have ears on them, don't you think? (says the sleepy-looking mama)

he's still pretty tiny though...

big sister gigi has been adjusting well. she really loves her baby brother dean, or according to her 'dino bambino.' she is very helpful and would like to be even more helpful i.e. she wants to change the poopy diapers. i somehow think that would result in an even bigger mess than just the poop itself, so she has to be content to be my assistant and hand me wipes.

so much energy!

hats with ears! for every child!

she sure looks big now...

and of course i have consumed many cups of tea. in fact i'm drinking one right now! in the last week i finally have really started feeling like myself again. it feels so good. i've been cooking and somehow that makes everything right with my world.

homemade bread and jam thank you gifts for my amazing midwives.

oat soda bread, recipe here.

clam linguine with broccoli

buttermilk waffles made in our new cast iron waffle pan (lard is the secret to seasoning it
and making it non-stick) also loving the napkins anna gave me for christmas!

pork chops, broccoli, and miso-curry roasted veggies with kale and pepitas.

blueberry muffins

classic chicken noodle

i had this kale caesar for breakfast one morning. i'm obsessed with kale caesar right now,
especially with avocado and sunflower seeds.

a stolen quiet moment dreaming of being able to wear normal clothes again.

tea and snacks with a friend.

i really want to get back to posting more frequently and taking photos with my actual camera, instead of only my iPhone. i have many more things to talk about, but my tea cup is now empty and the rest of the family is awake, so this will have to do for now. have a great weekend everyone!

  3. Great to see you back here Cassie. Dean is gorgeous and growing so much already. These first few months with a second baby are intense - I can't believe how well you look. As usual everything that comes out of your kitchen looks delicious and healthy. Take care.
