snapshots from the weekend

started the weekend off right by going out to breakfast and ordering asparagus benedict. i can't get enough hollandaise...

made another batch of my favorite lacto-fermented mayonnaise

and the weekend pizza-making continues!

pressure canned pinto beans and chicken broth

a cold, wet, and windy trip to the farmer's market. giant crepes make it all worthwhile.

oven roasted pork spareribs with veggie mash and a salad

  1. That breakfast looks AMAZING. Eggs benedict is one of my favourite things in the world but I never make it as i am scared of making hollandiase sauce and don't like the ones that come out of a packet. Never had asparagus benedict but i love asparagus so i'm guessing it's pretty delicious! Looks like a lovely (if wet) weekend. We are now having snow showers here after last weeks sunshine...English weather!! xx

    1. i've never made hollandaise either. it doesn't scare me. i'm more worried that if i know how to make it that i will make it every weekend...

  2. Crepes make the world go round! I'm also intrigued by your pinto beans. What will you do with them?

    1. i use the pintos just as i would use a can of pintos from the store. i usually sauté them in a little olive oil with minced garlic. then serve them over brown rice with salsa, cheese, veggies, leftover chicken, etc. it's a lot less expensive than buying cans and my jars aren't coated in bpa like commercial cans.
