and the rain is here again

we had a fun halloween with trick or treating and chicken scare-iyaki (teriyaki) for dinner. it managed not to rain that day, which is amazing. i grew up here and i spent most halloweens trick or treating with a rain poncho on. this year was great.

my garden is still producing a bit. i need to get a tunnel up over the chard so i can let the chickens eat and turn up the rest of the garden before it gets too cold. i had big plans to plant a bunch of over wintering crops this year. i did plant over wintering kale, but that's about it. i guess there's always next year. it feels good to be able to still pick greens from the yard.

i have been so busy for the last week that i haven't had a chance to pick up my knitting needles or do anything creative. i have so many ideas and so little time! we are getting my daughter a new baby doll for christmas and i really want to sew her and her doll matching flannel nightgowns. i also want to finish, and line, the cardigan for my boy's first birthday, which is in about a month! and of course i want to make some christmas ornaments... so little time indeed. and did i mention that three days ago he pulled himself up to standing for the first time, and today he started inching along the windowsill a bit? i think i'm going to have my hands full for the foreseeable future.
